Rotary Hervey Bay was founded on the 16th of August 1984 by 24 local business people. They formed the Charter for area 9570, known as Rotary Hervey Bay City.
Rotary International consists of over 31,000 clubs, from 530 Districts, across 163 countries. Over 1.2 million Rotarians offer their time, service and heartfelt passion to the running of Rotary throughout the world.

What is Rotary?
Rotary is an organisation of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
Rotary is the worlds first service club. It was founded in Chicago Illinois USA on 23 February 1905.
Rotarians meet each week, for fellowship and to share in programs that deal with personal, local, and global importance. Membership is by invitation only, and current members are always available to talk about becoming a member. Membership has always strived to reflect a wide cross-section of the community.
Rotarians carry out a remarkable variety of tasks, such as humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs.
You local Rotary is officially part of a Rotary Foundation, which, provides over US $60 million toward international scholarships, cultural exchanges and humanitarian projects each year.
Rotary maintains a strong commitment to working with National and International health organisations on the eradication of the Polio virus. More than half a billion children in developing nations have been immunised against polio through the Rotary “Polio-Plus” grants.
